So here is a question that’s been bumbling around in my head for several years:
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Is this scripture a command or a dubbing ceremony?
Is He dubbing us “Holy” or commanding something to be done?

I really, really like that idea.
In my experience the definition of the word ‘holy’ has somehow been twisted around from something that’s done to us (we have been set apart) to something we must do (we should be like God/perfect).
I never have thought about that possibility of God dubbing us Holy in that passage. Hmmmm…see the problem with the written word? It could be taken either way, huh?

Now we talking!
Yeah, accomplished fact!
I wish there was a Bible version that actually took the context into account and did not just translate on a word for word basis!
